Cameras upload over FTP; Google Drive is not an FTP server. ZenTransfer receives the FTP upload and forwards each file to your Drive folder.
What you need¶
- A camera with FTP support (see Supported cameras)
- A ZenTransfer account
- A Google account with Drive access
- Wi-Fi or mobile hotspot at the shooting location
Setup¶
Step 1: Connect Google Drive¶
- Log in to your Dashboard.
- Under Destinations, select Google Drive.
- Authorise ZenTransfer with your Google account. ZenTransfer requests write access to the
ZenTransferfolder only.
Step 2: Get FTP credentials¶
From your dashboard, copy:
- Hostname
- Username
- Temporary FTP password
Step 3: Configure your camera¶
- Open network or transfer settings on the camera.
- Select FTP transfer mode.
- Enter the ZenTransfer hostname, username, and password.
- Enable passive mode (PASV) if available.
- Save the profile.
Step 4: Connect and shoot¶
Connect the camera to your phone hotspot or venue Wi-Fi. Files appear in your ZenTransfer Drive folder within seconds of upload.
Multiple destinations¶
Google Drive can run alongside FTP, email, and other cloud destinations. Every file hits all active destinations in parallel. See Multi-destination delivery.
Tips¶
- Run a test shot before an important job to confirm connectivity.
- Use a dedicated 5G hotspot for long events when phone battery is a concern.
- Set the camera to queue and transmit in the background while you continue shooting.
